WHY YOU THINK THE WAY YOU DO

Now immediately, when Jesus realized in his spirit that they were contemplating such thoughts, he said to them, “Why are you thinking such things in your hearts?

Dear Believer,

It is good to know why you think the way you do. That is the only way to make yourself act the way you should act.

Let me make this clear, friend. You act the way you do because you think the way you do. That is why you also talk the way you do. So if you want to improve your deeds and your speech, you will first have to improve your thoughts. As a man thinks, so he is.

Jesus wasn’t just concerned about what people said. Some of their words sounded wonderful and full of concern for the poor, but Jesus could hear beyond what they said. He knew Judas was a thief when he suggested that some expensive perfume be sold to take care of the poor. He said it because he wanted to steal.

The way to truly know me is to know my thoughts. Since that is nigh impossible for you, it would be better to work on your own thoughts because you can know it, especially with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Have you ever wondered why you think the way you do? Have you been bothered that some negative thoughts seem to make your mind their home?

Jesus asked those guys in today’s scripture focus, “Why do you guys reason in this pathetic way?” The question was rhetorical. Jesus knew the answer, He just wanted them to know that He knew.

As a man thinks, so he is. If your thoughts are bad, you will eventually do bad things.

So why are some people’s thoughts like that?

One, Satan fills their heart with stuff.

Acts 5:3 KJV
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

People can allow Satan to fill them with all kinds of evil schemes. This comes from leaving your mind idle. A mind doesn’t take care of itself. If you don’t fill your mind with the Word of God and good things, Satan will help you to get it busy with his own evil stuff.

You must understand the need to sometimes bind the demons who bring evil thoughts. Do this in the name of Jesus and stop them from filling your mind with trash.

Two, when you don’t renew your mind, the things you have in it becomes ‘stale.’ Faith not renewed turns to unbelief. Holiness unrenewed turns to unholiness. Boldness unrenewed turns to timidity.

The reason some Believers who were once known as people of faith turned to be the champions of unbelief is because they started at some point to neglect their mind. They let anything in and didn’t renew it by meditation on God’s Word and reaffirmation of the truth to themselves.

Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…

Believer, if you’ve noticed that your mind is being assayed with all kinds of evil thoughts, you now know why.

Know that God has given you the responsibility and the power to control your own mind and decide its course. Don’t let Satan take over your mind.

All evil imagination must be cast down, and every thought must be controlled by the Word.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

This isn’t God’s responsibility. If you open the door of your mind to all kinds of thought from a negative source, you will make yourself a victim of evil. Understand that most movies and songs released in the world today are influenced by the devil to shape men’s thoughts. If you don’t guard your heart, it can be gradually taken over by evil.

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

That is the way to live by faith and not in fear. That is the way to live in holiness and not in sin.
