WHY HE DELIVERS YOU FROM DEATH
Friend, you aren’t here to be hiding from the devil, YOU ARE HERE FOR A MISSION.
2Corinthians 1:9-10 KJV
But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.
Dear Believer,
Death, troubles and persecution are a constant fact of life. However, you as a Believer must be careful not to fall prey to Satan’s ploy by subjecting yourself to the afflictions he brings.
We know according to the Bible that those who must live righteously in this unrighteous world will face persecution. (2Timothy 3:12). This doesn’t mean, however, that we should open up ourselves to evil whenever it crawls close and threatens.
Paul the Apostle had a lot of ‘opportunities’ to die in the course of his ministry. Reading the catalog of just some of what he went through is a staggering experience. (Please it is important that you read 2Corinthians 11:23-33 for a glimpse). He says in verse 23 that he was faced with death very often.
In all this, however, this man refused to submit His life until he had finished his course. He left when he was ready.
In the focus passage today Paul alludes to another case which could have caused his life. He says God delivered him from ‘a great death.’ He expressed his faith in the Lord who delivered and his trust that He would continue to deliver him.
This man gives a fascinating description of himself as someone who had already been sentenced to death. “We have a sentence of death on ourselves.” That is to say “I don’t fear death, being ready to meet my Lord at any time.” That was the life he lived. Yet he refused to let Satan snuff out his life until he had ended his mission on earth.
Friend, you aren’t here to be hiding from the devil, YOU ARE HERE FOR A MISSION.
I know most Believers don’t want to die. They quote David, “I shall not die but live.”
Yes, but David didn’t end it there. If you want to live, there.must be a reason. David said he refused to die, “that I may declare the works of the Lord.” (Psalm 118:17).
So why are you living?
If you have settled the reason for living with the Lord, (like Paul and David and a host of other saints of old) put your trust in the Lord and believe Him to save you from all forms of death, great and small.
You are a Believer, so you have no business being afraid of death. But remember, you are alive for a definite mission, so you must justify your reason for living.
As the world gets crazier and more unsafe to live in, never let it leave your heart for a moment that God delivers from death.
Talk to Him about this and have a great day.
