WHEN YOU DON’T WANT TO PRAISE GOD

WHEN YOU DON’T WANT TO PRAISE GOD

The bills are unpaid, deadlines are around the corner, and there are a thousand other concerns and pressing issues you can’t seem to get God to be interested in. So what’s there to praise God for?

Dear Believer,

Let’s face it, there are times we don’t want to say “Thank you God.”

The bills are unpaid, deadlines are around the corner, and there are a thousand other concerns and pressing issues you can’t seem to get God to be interested in. So what’s there to praise God for?

It is part of the reality of life that needs and challenges arise. It is also part of the reality of the spiritual life that our faith gets tested from time to time. At such trying times the pressure on a Believer should bring out the treasure in him.

Fear generally stirs up panic in people, but a Believer responds differently.

Psalm 56:3-4 LHB
When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

You see, this man felt fear all around, but he responded with trust in God and praise to Him.

When he felt death threatening, he responded with the words of life.

Psalm 118:17 LHB
I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.

Satan tries to get us to agree with him. Sometimes the power he wields in a Believer’s life is the power the Believer gives to him.

So when it seems nothing is happening; when it seems prayers aren’t being answered, or when it seems God is far away, understand that even if the eyes in your head cannot see God at work, the eyes of the faith can see, so open them!

2Corinthians 5:7 KJV
For we walk by faith, not by sight.

And we praise by faith, too, not by sight. Anyone can shout hallelujah when things are rosy. It is quite easy to say thank God when you have a full bank account and still more money is coming in. The true test of faith comes when a Believer has to weather a storm.

Do not stop praising God no matter what. If, as the scripture says, God inhabits the praise of His people (Psalm 22:3), you will have to create that atmosphere of God’s presence by continual praise.

Philippians 4:4-5 ISV Keep on rejoicing in the Lord at all times. I will say it again: Keep on rejoicing! Let your gracious attitude be known to all people. The Lord is near.

Let not the believer be like those whose attitude is determined by circumstances. Come to think of it, if indeed God doesn’t change and His love and concern for us don’t diminish, then we should appreciate Him at all times. Situations may change, but God is constant.

So if He was good yesterday, He is good today in spite of what situations may be saying. That is why king David kept saying God is good and His Mercy endures for ever, not just for a few days or months or years.

So what do you do when you don’t want to praise God? Praise Him anyway!

One of the ways to strengthen our faith is to offer to God praise always. The spirit of God showed me year ago that A MAN OF FAITH IS A MAN OF PRAISE, AND A MAN OF PRAISE IS A MAN OF FAITH!

Ba a praising believer.
