THE UNSTABLE SOUL

THE UNSTABLE SOUL
Reuben had sex with his daddy’s concubine and received a curse. It was an adulterous act. But when Jacob mentioned it years later, he attributed that act to instability of soul and character.

Dear Believer,

Your Heavenly Father has inspired me today to encourage you to remain in Him and be rooted permanently. This world’s system is seeking to displace us and suck us in into a whirlpool of maddening satanic activity. Everyone without an anchor will be swept away.

And to those already leading an unstable life, let us tell them this:

It is time to stop wavering. An unstable soul makes an unstable life. A wavering soul is as restless as a wave. The Word tells us such soul cannot receive anything from God. (James 1:6-7).

Reuben had sex with his daddy’s concubine and received a curse. It was an adulterous act. But when Jacob mentioned it years later, he attributed that act to instability of soul and character.

“Reuben, you are my firstborn, destined for strength, dignity and power. But you are unstable as water, therefore you will never excel. You went up to my bed to have sex with my concubine…” (Genesis 35:22; 49:3-4).

And he never excelled, because he was as unstable as the waves.

You see, the foundation of his sexual sin was a soul without an anchor. His soul was being knocked here and there by every wave of sin.

What defines a man is the state of his soul. Fear, hatred and most character and moral failures are only a manifestation of a sick and unstable soul. The solution is not to merely address the symptoms. We have to go deeper to the root of the problems.

An unstable man is a danger to himself and those around him. He is not far from hell because he keeps swinging close to it. Excellence is far from the unstable man.

“…For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:6-7 KJV).

With the myriads of voices whirling around our heads, constantly conflicting with the very essence of our spiritual existence, this is the time to build our soul on solid rock. If we don’t, we may end up in the middle of the strange faiths and practices, and then wonder how we got there.

Get anchored. Get your heart fixed on the Word. Be rooted in Christ. “My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed,” says the Psalmist. (Psalm 57:7). It is time to stop living a pendulous life of constant vacillation.

An unstable man is a wandering vagabond in the matter of destiny; he is walking very fast to a place he doesn’t even know. May you be rooted and be stable in soul in the name of Jesus.

Ask the Lord to help you to be anchored in Him. He will help you to abide in Him and grow in strength. Life is too short for a man not to know his place. “As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.” (Proverbs 27:8).

Pray with me.

Dear Father, I thank you for having given me all I shall ever need to be anchored in you. Today, Lord, I ask make a decision to always cooperate the the Holy Spirit to be a constantly stable life and please God. I receive divine help today to live stable in Jesus’ name. Amen.

 Have a blessed day!

Your friend,
Deon.
