WHEN YOU HAVE FAITH IN THE STORMS…
When you do your own part by obeying Him and believing His word, the storms that come against you are not stronger than the Savior with you. You will not end up in the belly of any evil fish.
Dear Believer,
Do you realize how easy it is for the natural man to forget or doubt the Word of God?
Many times the culprit is trouble — the various storms of life that a person faces. Challenges naturally cause all your attention to be focused on them and if care isn’t taken, you can forget that there is a God who has given you His Word that you will overcome.
Let us study together a very interesting story that involved Jesus and His disciples.
On that day, when evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s go across to the other side of the lake.” So after leaving the crowd, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat, and other boats were with him. Mark 4:35-36.
Note the following points. One, Jesus told His disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” Two, Jesus went into the ship with His disciples.
Now, as soon as they “launched forth,” Jesus found a couch, got into a comfortable corner and slept off.
The Lord is perfectly capable of bringing you to that destination He has prepared for you.
Suddenly a storm started, and the waves beat against the ship so much so that it began to be flooded with water.
I want to call your attention to the reaction of the disciples of Jesus. I want you to particularly notice what they said.
Now a great windstorm developed and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was nearly swamped. But he was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. They woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are about to die?” Mark 4:37-38.
They had totally given in to panic. All they could see with the eyes of their mind was their dead bodies sinking to the bottom of the lake.
To make matters worse for them, Jesus slept through the storm and didn’t seem to be aware of the billowing waves. It made a lot of sense to the disciples to accuse Jesus of not caring for them at all.
These sturdy men made some mistakes many believers are still making today.
First, they fix their attention on the problems they seem to be having. Second, they start to think God doesn’t care for them. Third, they forget what God has told them at the beginning through His Word or by revelation.
Jesus had told them, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” If He said they were going to the other side, they ought to have believed Him and not start to think they would perish.
Jesus didn’t tell them, “Let us go and perish in a watery grave.” He didn’t tell them, “Let us go suffer a shipwreck.” They totally forgot what He said and accused Him of being uncaring. They spoke as though Jesus led them on purpose into a death trap.
Dear Believer, this teaches us not to allow ourselves be deceived into putting our faith in the storms.
The Lord is perfectly capable of bringing you to that destination He has prepared for you. When you do your own part by obeying Him and believing His word, the storms that come against you are not stronger than the Savior with you. You will not end up in the belly of any evil fish.
His Word is His bond. Do not believe the storm. Believe His Word.
Pray and declare aloud:
Today I declare that the God in me is bigger that any storm of life. I declare in the name of Jesus that I shall not perish in the storms of life, but I shall walk over them and speak to them to be calm. Amen.
Have a pleasant weekend!
