THE TRUTH IS A MAKER AND A BREAKER

THE TRUTH IS A MAKER AND A BREAKER

If you know the truth and is it used, it sets you free. If you know the truth and ignore it, it may become the reason for your destruction because you will eventually be judged according to the truth that you know.

2Peter 3:17 KJV
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

Dear Believer,

When you are privileged to know the truth about any matter, you should not take it for granted. Truth is precious. God wants us to order our life by it.

Peter tells his hearers that since they know ‘these things,’ which are the truths of God’s Word revealed to them, they shouldn’t let anyone lead them away into error.

In other words, they are to use the truth that they know to make themselves free from lies. They are to use the knowledge of the truth to maintain their steadfastness.

Most great people that have fallen throughout history fell, not because they didn’t know the truth, but because they failed to use the truth that they knew to their advantage.

If you know the truth and is it used, it sets you free. If you know the truth and ignore it, it may become the reason for your destruction because you will eventually be judged according to the truth that you know.

In Daniel chapter 5, a petulant King in an insulting mood was using God’s holy vessels to engage in a drunken debauchery with his courtiers. A hand suddenly appeared, writing some strange characters spelling judgement on the wall. This foolish king suddenly became sober and began to seek for the meaning of the strange words.

Daniel the wise man was called upon. Before he read the writing on the wall and gave the interpretation, he told the king why he was in that big trouble.

He began by telling the story of the King’s grandfather, Nebuchadnezzar. He told how he became arogant and was humiliated by God.

Daniel 5:21-22 VW
And [Nebuchadnezzar] was driven from the sons of men. And his heart was made like the animals, and his home was with the wild asses. They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the heavens, until he knew that the Most High God is Ruler in the kingdom of men, and that He appoints over it whomever He desires. And you, his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this.

That second verse is what I want you to spend time to meditate on. “You did not humble yourself, though you knew that pride was what got your grandfather humiliated.”

Belshazzar had all the reason and opportunity to be a great king and to succeed, but he refused to learn from the truth he knew.

It is easy to call this king a foolish man, but many Believers are just like this. They have the Book of God’s truth, the Holy Spirit and the preachers of truth, yet they go against everything they know as truth and mess up their own life.

Judas knew the truth. Demas knew the truth. Yet they forsook the Word of God. Most warnings given in the Word of God were given to people who already knew that what they were engaged in doing was bad, but who persisted in walking again the truth.

But the Bible says:

2Corinthians 13:8 VW
For we have no power against the truth, but on behalf of truth.

In other words, it’s a waste of time to march or speak or live against the truth. You are going nowhere doing that. You can only flow with the truth, not against it.

People speak about breaking the law of God. But the truth is, no one breaks the law of God. If you go against the law of God, you are the one that ends up broken. The truth is a maker and a breaker both.

Dear Believer, God has given you all the truth that you need to.live your life profitably unto God; cherish it and do not go against it.

The man who makes use of the truth he knows is the man who is free indeed. (Ref. Matthew 8:32)

Have a beautiful day.
