THE GOOD OF THE LAND IS FOR YOU
While many complain and blame others for whatever their condition is, a Believer should look into His own life.
Isaiah 1:19 KJV
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.
Dear Believer,
Two things are mentioned here: willingness and obedience
Without these two, God’s people cannot eat the good of the land.
Willingness to take up our responsibility, obedience to God’s leading.
Willingness to do what God wants you to do, obedience to to do it the way He wants you to do it.
For example, when giving, the scripture tells us that before anything, we must be sure of our willingness, and that willingness is the first things.
2Corinthians 8:12 KJV
For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man has, and not according to that he has not.
So, if one gives grudgingly, he loses his reward. He doesn’t get the ‘good of the land.’
This doesn’t apply to giving only; it is applicable to everything.
Now, many are willing but not obedient. Many are obedient, but not willing.
There are those who are just partially willing or partially obedient.
These two requirements are standing between us and the treasures God has prepared for us in this land.
While many complain and blame others for whatever their condition is, a Believer should look into His own life. He should ask himself, “Am I eager to do the will of God? Is my willingness complete? Am I ready to go all the way to fulfil my responsibilities to God and man?”
Psalm 40:8 KJV
I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
To delight in doing God’s will is the willingness we are talking about. Jonah did the will of God ‘eventually,’ but very grudgingly. He preached to the people he was sent to, but was unhappy to do so. That was unwillingness. No one eats the good of the land with that attitude. After he’d done the job, the tree protecting him from the heat withered on him and he became exposed. (Read the book of Jonah. It is one of the shortest books of the Bible).
Believer, you’ve been called into obedience.
In Ephesians 2:2, we read that before we came to Christ, we were ‘children of disobedience.’ This means we are now children of obedience. We don’t argue with God. We respond to His will positively.
We do not resist correction and we follow His guidance.
That is why we know we shall eat the good of the land.
I know also, friend, that you shall eat the fruit of the land.
Have a fruitful day.
Your friend,
Deon.
