THE AUDACITY OF EVIL

THE AUDACITY OF EVIL

The filth in the human heart is spilling all over the streets. What will you do about it?

Psalm 94:16 KJV
Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

Dear Believer,

Year ago I was in the church with my family after having ended a prayer meeting. It was during the last few days of the year and the early hours of the morning. Close to the church location, a large group of youngsters had just ended a ‘carnival,’ a musical gathering that was usually spiced with all kinds of immoral acts.

Then I heard a scream coming right from the front of our church. I rushed to the door and peeped only to see four boys struggling to hold down a skinny girl, trying to rape her. They had already removed her skirt and at that point, they had held her down, and one of them was already getting on top of her.

I shouted at them to leave her alone. They didn’t even acknowledge me. The door of the church was locked and I couldn’t immediately get the keys. Those boys didn’t even bother to respond to my shout. They were intent on raping that girl right in front of the church.

That is the audacity of evil. Everything wicked has gotten bolder these days. The sin that people used to commit behind closed doors and under the cover of darkness are now being flaunted in the open. The rat is not even trying to bell the cat, it is now bullying him.

Maybe you’ve noticed it, too. The filth in the human heart is spilling all over the streets. All pretence is being cast away. Evil is publicly jostling for attention with piety.

Jesus said it would happen, but before I share what you have to do about this as a Believer, let me tell you how the rape story ended.

I was temporarily incapacitated because I couldn’t open the door. I shouted to anyone who could hear to get me the keys. The girl kept screaming, and the boys were struggling to keep her down.

Then something occurred to me, and I quickly did it.

“Bring me that gun and let me blast their heads!” I said.

When they heard this, they left the girl and scattered in different directions.

I had no guns, but the ruse worked. That girl was saved. We got the door opened and got the girl in. I lectured her on the danger of moving around in the night with such a group, but that’s not my emphasis today.

The event illustrated how bold evil has become. You can observe this in every aspect of life. That ‘spirit’ that pushed young men to want to rape a girl in front of a church while people were going along the road merely glancing at them is getting prouder and prouder.

What will you do about it?

You must disallow it wherever you are. Believers aren’t to live a permissive life or permit evil wherever they are. Most times, silence is a way of giving tacit support to evil. The evil you permit around you will eventually grow so large as to overwhelm you.

Ephesians 4:27 KJV
Neither give place to the devil.

Evil will try to seep into your home, family, relationship or even church. The size doesn’t matter. Little evil is still evil. Do not allow in your life whatever the Word of God disallows.

As evil gets more audacious these days, Believers must get even more determined to resist it. We are the restrainers of evil, stopping the world from being consumed.

Pray against evil. That is the spiritual responsibility of every believer. But you have to take action, too. Some things can only be handled in the physical realm.

One of the reasons evil has become bolder is the timidity of believers and good men. Wickedness feeds off the weakness of good people. Refuse to let evil grow where you are.

Pray about this.

Have a blessed day.

Your friend,
Deon.
