TAKE UP YOUR SHIELD
To the Believer, the Lord is a defense.
Psalm 3:3 KJV
But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
Dear Believer,
A shield was a vital weapon in ancient warfare. It represents defense.
A good defense system is indispensable in warfare. Even in time of peace, you have to have a system of defense in place lest the enemy take advantage of you.
A shield is a defensive weapon. You may know how to use your sword and skillfully thrust and cut with it, but without a shield, you are still exposed.
How would it feel for a warrior to have a system of defense that doesn’t fail… One that is equal to every flying arrow of the enemy?
That is what the Lord is.
To the Believer, the Lord is a defense.
King David didn’t just see God as his Defender, he called the Lord his very Defense. Others trusted in their chariots and horses and little shields. David had all these, too, but his trust wasn’t in them.
Proverbs 21:31 KJV
The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
The world is becoming more and more unsafe. People are trying to put various systems of defense in place to protect their family and property. It is all well and good.
However, it is good to realize that all these will fail if God isn’t our defense.
For a Believer, our defense is activated by faith. We can say the shield is faith.
Ephesians 6:16 KJV
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Our simple and consistent faith in God to protect us and defend us is absolutely necessary if we want to see God in action as the Shield.
God commands total control over the angels and has absolutely authority over the devil. You cannot have God as your defence and be afraid of whatever the devil may throw at you.
Declare it: “The Lord is my Shield. I’m taking up the shield of faith by faith and I quench ALL fiery arrows of the devil. No evil shall befall me. I am under divine protection in the name of Jesus.”
Remember, God’s defence system does not fail. And it’s all yours.
