STICK WITH HIM ALL THE WAY
Remember, He only has the Words of life. Nothing else out there satisfies. They all promise something good but will eventually fail.
John 6:67-68 MKJV1962
Then Jesus said to the Twelve, Do you also wish to go away? Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have [the] words of eternal life.
Dear Believer,
It gets to a time that an individual has to really weigh his options and make eternal choices. That moves him from the nominal to the final commitment.
‘The Twelve’ were the 12 disciples who were closest to the Lord Jesus. They went with Him everywhere. The surprising thing is, they didn’t know everything about Jesus. They were learning new things everyday.
On a particular day, the disciples were hearing ‘strange’ things from Jesus. These were things that seemed to be absolutely against their religious beliefs.
Joh 6:60-61 MKJV1962
Then when they had heard, many of His disciples said, This is a hard saying, who can hear it? But knowing in Himself that His disciples murmured about it, Jesus said to them, Does this offend you?
They were religious folks and had believed some things all their lives. Now Jesus seemed to be tearing through the core of their belief.
Other than the Twelve, there were very many men and women who considered themselves the disciples of Jesus. At this point they reconsidered their commitment.
John 6:66 MKJV1962
From this [time] many of His disciples went back into the things behind, and walked no more with Him.
That was when Jesus asked the Twelve, ‘Are you also leaving?”
Peter answered on behalf of the rest, “To whom else can we go? You have words of eternal life?”
This is to say “Master, we may not understand yet the things you are saying. Much of it may sound to us like outlandish claims. We believe in You still. We do not have anywhere else to go. We’re with You all the way.”
Believer, in your relationship with Jesus, you may find at some point that you are faced with things and experiences for which you don’t have immediate answers. The Spirit of God may be teaching you things that seem to be beyond your pay grade. Challenges may seem to be piling up as you stand for Jesus, and then you are tempted to look for solutions outside Jesus.
Remember, He only has the Words of life. Nothing else out there satisfies. They all promise something good but will eventually fail.
Tell Jesus. “Lord I have no place to go. You have the Words of Life. I stick with You forever. Amen.”
Have a blessed day.
