SPEAK HEALING WORDS
Speak peace. Speak victory. Do not speak unbelief and defeat. Lift the weak with your words. That is what Jesus did.
Proverbs 12:18 ASV There is that speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword; But the tongue of the wise is health.
Dear Believer,
God’s word teaches very clearly that words in our mouth aren’t ordinary. In the passage above, speaking rashly is equated with piercing with a sword. On the other hand, speaking with wisdom brings healing to the hearer.
One of the assignments God has given the Believer is healing. Taking the power of Jesus everywhere to touch the physically and mentally ill is one of the ways we show the love of Jesus to the world.
Any Believer who does not use words correctly — who speaks anyhow — cannot fulfil this ministry of healing.
The reason is that God uses His Word (many times through our mouth) to heal people in their bodies or minds.
Psalm 107:20 ASV
He sendeth his word, and healeth them, And delivereth them from their destructions.
Many pride themselves in being harsh speakers who don’t mind whose ox is gored. Some call people ‘fool,’ ‘stupid,’ and so on claiming Jesus and Paul did the same. I ask them if they have been given authority to do that?
If you cannot speak the words of healing, comfort and encouragement, then be silent.
Proverbs 16:24 ASV
Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
All some sick people need to regain their health is ‘pleasant words.’
As a Believer, you must always have a good word ready for those you will meet. Avoid using words that will engender strife and bitterness.
The wicked are known by the words they speak, either in public or in secret. David prayed:
Psalm 64:2-3 KJV
Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words.
As the Believer uses his own mouth to speak healing words, the wicked uses his own to speak bitter words. Thank God the Word of faith will always defeat the evil words.
Speak peace. Speak victory. Do not speak unbelief and defeat. Lift the weak with your words. That is what Jesus did.
And that is your ministry, too.
Have a pleasant day.
