SATAN’S VISITATION

SATAN’S VISITATION

Satan sometimes gets the best of Believers because they have his stuff inside them. With nothing of his in you, there’s no way he can manipulate you from the inside.

John 14:30 KJV
Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Dear Believer,

We know from the Word of God that neither Satan nor his minions are omnipresent. Satan may be fast, efficient and an embodiment of evil, but that is where it ends. He can’t be at two places at the same time.

From time to time this ancient adversary pays God’s people a visit.

He visited Peter, and put him under some pressure. Before he came, Jesus had warned Peter, “Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has asked permission to sift all of you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail. When you have come back, you must strengthen your brothers.” (Luke 22:31-32 ISV).

Peter responded by flexing his muscles and boasting. “I’ll never betray You, Lord. I’m ready to be imprisoned and even die for you!”

Well, Satan bested Peter. The great disciple did what he never thought he could ever do. He denied Jesus.

Satan visited Judas. This man wasn’t a bad man from the beginning. Jesus prayed before he chose him to be among his disciples. But when Satan came visiting, Judas opened the door.

John 13:27
…And Satan entered into him…

Why did these men fail the test?

You see, before Satan gets a hold of anyone, he first plants some of his signature vices in them.

For Peter, it was pride and a foolish dependence on his own ability. Satan first stirs up your human weakness.

For Judas, it was greed for money. Long before Satan paid him the special visit that resulted in his entering into him, Judas had given in to the temptations to steal.

John 12:6 ISV
…[Judas] was in charge of the moneybag and would steal what was put into it.

Satan didn’t just come to overcome these men, he had first sent his demons of pride and greed. He had first worked on whittling down their moral and spiritual defences.

So when he came, these guys couldn’t even struggle. The door was already open for him. He had a mole planted in them…a spiritual malware that would open the back door for him.

Now, here’s the consolation. Satan came to visit Jesus, too. You can see an instance in Matthew chapter 4:1-11 and Luke 4:1-13. After all the devil did on this occasion and others, here is the verdict of Jesus.

John 14:30 KJ2000
…For the prince of this world comes, and has nothing in me.

You can see that when Satan came visiting Jesus, there was nothing in Him that Satan could latch on. The pride, greed, the lust and so on that had made others fall didn’t penetrate Jesus. There was absolutely no attraction between Jesus and Satan. Nothing in common no matter how small.

That is how God wants us to live. That is why He has given us the Holy Spirit.

Satan sometimes gets the best of Believers because they have his stuff inside them. With nothing of his in you, there’s no way he can manipulate you from the inside.

You should pray to your Father about this:

Dear Father, thank You for the Holy Spirit in me. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. My life totally belongs to You. I refuse to allow any vice of Satan in my life. I refuse to be attracted in any way to the devil. I reject his sins. I refuse to allow him to stir up my flesh and have an open door into my life. Jesus is in charge of my life. Thank you Father for your grace in my life. Amen.

Have a beautiful day.

Your friend,
Deon.
