REVIVAL IS PERSONAL
You cannot be so down that He is powerless to raise you. You cannot be so empty that He is unable to fill you again.
1Corinthians 15:45 KJV
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
Dear Believer,
Revival means various things to various Believers in Christ. To some, it is a monthly church program where they pray ‘violent’ prayer. To others, it is a ‘crusade’ where people are preached to. To yet others, it is a general spiritual awakening among Believers and unbelievers.
However, while we can see many references to prayer for revival in the Old Testament, such is strangely lacking in the New Testament writings. No one prayed for revival. The reason is this: those New Testament saints were well aquainted with the constant reviving power of the Spirit of God. It was their daily experience, not a periodic thing.
Here’s the difference. While Old Testament saints prayed:
Psalm 85:6 VW
Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?
Paul the apostle declared:
2Corinthians 3:6 KJV2000
[God] has made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life [revives, quickens].
The quickening, or reviving power of the Holy Spirit is a powerful New Testament reality. Jesus said:
John 6:63 VW
It is the Spirit who gives life [revives, quickens]; the flesh does not profit; not a thing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
The Holy Spirit in the Believer is a source of a never ending power and energy. God doesn’t want us to be seeking for ‘revival’ from time to time; He wants us to live revival. He wants us to always stay quickened.
Believers need to stop waiting till their spiritual strength depletes before re-firing. Jesus said those who believe in Him would have the rivers of living waters flowing out of them constantly. (John 7:37). That gives no room for dryness and thirst. The life He came to give is not merely for personal subsistence, but ‘more abundantly,’ overflowing to others. (John 10:10).
‘Revival’ is a personal thing. If you are feeling spiritually drained as a Believer, the source of power that you need is within your Spirit. Settle down with God and spend time praying, repenting, praying in the Holy Spirit and worshiping. The river will flow again. You will be re-fired.
Don’t wait for some emotional feeling that may come from a large gathering. Whatever you may feel in such a place, genuine or not, will be easily lost if you haven’t learned to settle down with the Spirit of God on a regular basis.
Remember, you have the reviving Spirit within you. That source is inexhaustible. You cannot be so down that He is powerless to raise you. You cannot be so empty that He is unable to fill you again.
Get down to work and get filled again.
Have a great day.
Your friend,
Deon.
