RESIST THAT SPIRIT OF INFIRMITY!

Let me tell you a story.

When my first born was three years old, she suddenly started to experience pain in her tummy. The tummy then started to grow bigger and bigger. She became very uncomfortable and we became very concerned.

As someone fond of reading medical journals, I knew this situation could be very serious.

Then one night as we got ready to sleep, I decided to pray for this little girl.
I laid my hand on her and started to minister to her. The more I prayed the more I sensed an opposition in the spirit.

At some point I was led to start rebuking evil spirits . This continued until I sensed peace in my heart. I then commanded healing in the name of Jesus.

We all slept. Then I had a dream. In my dream I saw a short, ugly being with a long hand standing just outside the window. He was stretching one of his long arms through the window trying to touch my girl. Apparently, this demon had been driven out when I prayed, but he was still trying to make my girl sick.

I found myself authoritatively telling that filthy thing “Take away your hand and leave right now in Jesus’ name.” The demon, in shock, pulled back his hand and left with a whoosh.

Then I woke up. At that instant my daughter also woke up. I looked at her tummy: no swelling. She had no pain. She was perfectly okay. She looked at me and said, “Daddy, my tummy is no more big; Jesus came to heal me!”

That girl is a university student today, still with a flat tummy!

You see, Satan works assiduously to infiltrate your family. You must live to exercise your dominion in Christ at all times.

Dear Believer, the first thing to do when you notice the footprints of the devil is not to start running around seeking medical help. I sensed that if I had decided to take my child to the hospital at that time, doctors would have come up with all kinds of fancy names and treatments for what was wrong with her, and they would have been right, since they operate in that realm.

A woman came into the Synagogue where Jesus was preaching, bent in the middle and walking crookedly. Medical science would definitely have had something to say about her case.

It could be a severe case of osteoporosis. It could be a manifestation of a disease later known as Parkinson’s. In fact, her case seems to me a case of camptocormia, also called bent spine syndrome. While all these may be right, they are only physical manifestations of something more insidious and sinister.

We read in Luke 13:11 that this woman was being afflicted by ‘a spirit of infirmity.’ Luke, the man who shared this story, was himself a doctor.

What did Jesus do? Did He turn the woman over to a doctor?

And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. Luke 13:12.

That woman was healed right there in the service!

Dear friend, your first response to symptoms of sickness or any trouble should be spiritual. Some Believers only remember that God heals after they have exhausted all other remedies. Exercise your faith and authority in Christ first, even if you think you need a doctor.

I’m not telling you not to visit the hospital, but you have to realize that as a Believer, the Lord is your Healer. Satan is the oppressor and you have to deal with his works spiritually.

Resist that Spirit of infirmity today. Don’t wait until things get worse.
