Dear Believer,
This oft-quoted verse has become a lame cliche not only among believers, but also in the society at large. The danger of this is that for many people, the punch has been taken out of the truth of it.
How this works is something we all have to revisit. Bad company, (or ‘evil communication’ as the KJV calls it), is more than having a bad friend. The world is filled today with more dangerous things than immoral individuals many call friends.
The morals of many believers are being corrupted by the misuse of social media. For others, the corrupter is the television. The Internet has all but destroyed the spiritual vitality of many believers as they virtually company with individuals performing immoral acts.
There’s a spiritual dimension to this. I have had to minister to believers who confessed to picking up bad habits that dominated their lives through watching some movies, visiting some websites or joining some groups on social media. I have had to deal with demons that found their ways into these people’s lives. You know, if you lay down with dogs, you will rise up with fleas.
Believer, understand that you are in a world in which the devil is trying to dominate your soul, dictate your thoughts and direct your path. He will do this through the company you keep, and this doesn’t have to be physical.
Understand that just as we are anointed to minister the Holy Spirit to men and women, there are also men that are anointed to minister evil spirits to men and women. Be watchful.
The virtual world has become more real to some people than the physical world. I tell my people that the world has migrated online. The evil that many cannot express in everyday life can be easily expressed anonymously online and the agents of the darkness are harvesting souls through this means.
