POWER IN THE KINGDOM
For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. 1 Corinthians 4:20.
Dear Believer,
When Jesus was physically on Earth, something differentiated Him from the religious teachers of His day.
Whereas those ones taught and spoke to make people believe their various theories and interpretations, Jesus spoke with power that touched people’s lives.
It didn’t end there, He also demonstrated God’s power. People didn’t just hear, they also saw and felt.
Mattew 22:29 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
That was spoken to the Sadducees who were trying to use words to trick Jesus. They didn’t understand God’s power and therefore spoke nonsensical words that they mistook for wise words. Jesus told them they erred. It was beyond their religious mind to conceive that those who had died could resurrect. They didn’t even believe that angels existed.
Today, many professing believers try to rationalize everything. They have started doing away with the belief in miracles and the supernatural interventions of the Holy Spirit. Do not toe that path.
Jesus said, “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” (Matthew 6:13). Did you notice the order?
The Kingdom. The Power. The Glory.
Entering the Kingdom gives the believer access to power, and then the glory follows. Without the power, the Kingdom’s effectiveness is down to zero.
A member of one religious group was debating with my son on issues of the Kingdom. This person referred to the Holy Spirit as ‘it’ and didn’t believe in miracles. My son calmly began to recount real-life stories of miracles of healing that God had wrought through me his father, and the deliverances he had witnesses as God’s power touched oppressed people. As he shared this stories one after the other, this person became so interested and started asking questions. She lost interest in arguing. No one argues with the demonstration of God’s power.
This religious person was going around preaching about ‘the Kingdom yet did not know anything about its power!
Dear Believer, you belong to a Kingdom of power. Words are important, but the Kingdom is not in words only.
Paul told the Corinthians:
1Corinthians 2:4 KJV
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.
The Kingdom only functions by divine power. The Church of Jesus Christ got here by power. You will fulfil your destiny and ministry only by power.
Those who depend on mere motivation are going to be frustrated at some point. Situations will arise that will not respond to mere words. For instance, you cannot persuade a demon or disease to leave a person, and you cannot motivate a demon possessed to ‘keep hope alive.’ Only power can dislodge the presence of such evil.
Believer, seek to walk in power. Get into the Word to meditate and pray about the miracles and demonstrations of the power of God from Genesis to Revelation.
Take steps of faith to exercise power and see the Holy Spirit work mightily in you to touch the world around you.
And you will have testimonies.
Have a great month!
