ONLY YOU CAN SWITCH ON YOUR LIGHT
If you do not get up, you will not shine, so getting up is something you do consciously. Apathy, lethargy and a general disposition to be slothful aren’t qualities of a Believer.
John 9:5 KJV
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Dear Believer,
None of us has a thousand years to do the will of God on Earth. Sooner or later we have to take a bow. This place is only our realm of preparation for eternity.
However, we must make our time here count. Jesus said to Believers:
Mat 5:14-16 KJV
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Here are some points we can glean from this passage.
1. We are the light of this world.
This means without us Believers, the world (home, community etc) is in darkness.
2. Although we are the light, it is very possible to be useless and ineffective like a lighted candle covered with a bowl.
So we don’t just get lighted, we must also get out there to dispel the darkness.
3. We must let our light shine. That is to say it is up to us to determine how intense we will shine.
It is within our power to do away with the things that hinder lights from shining.
4. The more we shine, the more people know God and glorify Him.
Believer, you can see the great responsibility given to you!
Understand that you don’t have forever to do all this. The Lord expects us to do all this in our day to day life.
Be the light that your family needs. Be the light in your school, church, community and even office.
There are Believers whose lifestyle does not make people glorify God but make them despise Him. Don’t be like that.
Finally, no Believer can shine unless he determines to shine. That is why God tells us:
Isaiah 60:1 KJV
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
If you do not get up, you will not shine, so it is something you do consciously. Apathy, lethargy and a general disposition to be slothful aren’t qualities of a Believer.
If you are not shining, you are inadvertently helping the darkness to have a greater hold on the world.
Now is the time to brighten up your own corner of the world!
