NOW LETS GET DOWN THE STRONGHOLDS!
The stronghold is the imaginations that have been built to challenge the knowledge of God.
Dear Believer,
Let’s read this passage together:
2Corinthians 10:3-4 KJV
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
What comes to your mind when you see the words ‘war’, ‘warfare,’ ‘stronghold,’ in these verses?
To many believers, the picture is of a spiritual battleground where demons are screeching and they are binding and losing as angels are moving in streaks of light cutting down the enemy with flaming swords.
That is not what the passage is describing!
It is not about pulling down some stronghold in the heavens with fasting or the combined efforts of prayer warrior.
So what is the stronghold?
The apostle explains it this way:
2Corinthians 10:5 KJV
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
The stronghold is the imaginations that have been built to challenge the knowledge of God.
Every imagination is built on some kind of knowledge. So many of the things we know have shaped our thinking and worldview. The combined knowledge has made us form opinions, habits, bonds and even made decisions. The problem is, much of the knowledge has not been scriptural or godly.
And because they aren’t godly, the stronghold they formed have been standing against God’s will in the lives of those in whose mind it is formed. Until they are cast down, their mind remains their enemy and will keep fighting against God’s will.
But we have weapons! We are neither powerless or defenseless. We are warned, though, that these weapons are not of the flesh, or carnal. The battle of the mind and imaginations is in the unseen realm, so the weapons must be spiritual.
The prisoners of war to be taken captive are going to be ‘every thoughts.’
When you are able to take your thoughts and imagination captive for God, you will have exercised dominion over who you are and can then make the will of God a normal way of life for yourself.
Many Believers grew up with so many ‘strongholds’ that are still controlling their worldview. In fact, they still read the Bible and even pray according to the dictates of those strongholds.
Strongholds are structures built in one’s mind over several years that hold the person in a strong manner. This is why some people will never see reason. This is why even some Believers keep believing a lie. The strongholds are still in place. The wrong imaginations are yet to be cast down.
Wrong beliefs about marriage, finances, spiritual matters, church and so on are strongholds that need to be pulled down.
God’s Word is the weapon you need. That is what can transform your mind.
It took many people very many years to have these strongholds set up. That is why we must settle down with the word of God and prayer. When the Spirit is fed continually with the Word of God, the mind receives the truth and the old prejudices and biases starts to crumble.
If you stick with the World, you will start noticing in spite of yourself that some old habits, beliefs and propensities start to fade away. As you confess the Word of God over your life, resisting negative suggestions spoken into your mind by the devil, you will see the hold of evil weaken in your life.
People talk about the power of the devil over them, but most times the power the devil seems to be exercising over them is the power they gave to him. Your spiritual weapons are the way to take back that power.
Many times what we call generational curses are just generational strongholds of the mind. A set of beliefs and habits are passed on from one generation to the other. For example, Mother (or father) indoctrinates daughter and passes her fears, brliefs and weaknesses of the mind to her, and the daughter then grows up with her mind formed negatively about certain things.
The mind can be molded in the wrong way, and this can ruin a person for life.
Start pulling down those strongholds today. Immerse yourself in the Word of God and start speaking it over your life. This will break addictions, strengthen weaknesses, destroy hatred, make it easy to forgive and destroy laziness.
You are a child of God — a Believer. And what you believe is the Word, not lies that have formed empty imaginations.
Use the weapons! Victory and strength are yours.
Have a great day.
Your friend,
Deon.
