MADE TO BE FRUITFUL

MADE TO BE FRUITFUL

God Himself takes care of the fruitful Believer so that he may bear more fruit. That makes a lot of sense. If you have a fruit tree, you are encouraged to protect it if it gives you fruit.

Luke 13:7-9 KJV 7
Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

Dear Believer,

You have been called to bear fruit. You have a fruitful nature.

Now, the kind of fruitfulness I’m speaking about is spiritual. Not only does God want you to grow and be healthy spiritually, He also wants you to make a deep impact, multiply yourself, reproduce good things and the gifts in you in other people. He wants you to be a soul winner, too.

Today’s focus passage shows the heart of God on fruitfulness. It is about a man who had a vineyard in which he planted a fig tree, provided all it needed to flourish and be fruitful, paid someone to take care of it only to check after three years to get no fruit on it.

The reaction of the vineyard owner is revealing. “Why is it taking up so much space for nothing? It hasn’t produced a fruit in three years. Cut it down!” he said.

Everything given to you by God is a tool for the purpose of fruit bearing. As a Believer, you do not have the luxury of spending your spiritual life loafing around and watching things happen; God wants you to make things happen. He wants to make things happen through you.

God Himself takes care of the fruitful Believer so that he may bear more fruit. That makes a lot of sense. If you have a fruit tree, you are encouraged to protect it if it gives you fruit.

John 15:2 KJV
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Believer, settle down with God and pray so that the Spirit of God may show you how to be fruitful. As a righteous person, God wants you to increase your fruits of righteousness (2 Corinthians 9:10). That means He doesn’t want you to merely be a Believer who boasts about divine righteousness, but one who shows what it means to be righteous to the world.

Go and be fruitful!

Your friend,
Deon.
