KEEP RESISTING

KEEP RESISTING

God wants you to challenge yourself with the thought that others have sacrificed far more that you have.

Dear Believer,

Jesus taught us to count the cost before embarking on this journey of the faith. You are supposed to put all you have into it and not even look back.

2Timothy 3:12 KJV
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

But it may happen that you get into some rough terrain and you start feeling that life is dealing you a hard hand because of your faith in God. At such a time, you need to tell yourself that, first, it is a great privilege to experience difficulty on account of your faith in Christ.

Second, God wants you to challenge yourself with the thought that others have sacrificed far more that you have.

In our focus scripture today, the Hebrews Christians were being told that although they had resisted the system of sin in this world, they hadn’t done so to the point of shedding their blood, which their brethren elsewhere had done. Whatever difficulty we are going through now for the sake of the Gospel, let us know that others are having it worse somewhere. Jesus is right by our side.

Let me make it clear that experiencing difficulty for the faith is not the same as suffering as punishment for evil committed.

1Peter 4:15-16 KJV
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. Yet if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

The early Believers in Christ knew what they signed for. They very much expected to be persecuted for their faith. Today, such a message isn’t popular among Believers. But the truth is that Believers in Christ are still being imprisoned, killed, harassed, having their children taken from them and even being beheaded in some parts of the world.

It is our responsibility to resist this system of sin. This world’s system is under the control of the devil which is styled the ‘prince of this world.’ He schemes to make things difficult for Believers. Let us understand that we have an assignment, and when the going gets tough in the course of performing our God-assigned tasks, let us understand that it comes with the job.

Understand, friend, that you aren’t resisting an omnipotent enemy, but a defeated one. The system of this world will soon be over. Jesus made sure of that: He overcame the world.

John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

May you always be found with strength whenever you are called upon to stand for the cause of Christ.

Amen.

Have a blessed day.

Your friend,
Deon.
