IT ISN’T ENOUGH TO DO THINGS

IT ISN’T ENOUGH TO DO THINGS

You see, it isn’t enough to do things; they must be done well and completed.

Proverbs 12:27 KJV
The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

Dear Believer,

There is an insidious spirit that you must avoid at all cost. It is that of slothfulness.

In the passage above, it is used to describe procrastination. It can also mean slackness, laziness, laxness and so on.

A lazy person who is fond of rolling over his responsibility to another day (or another time or another person) isn’t ready for promotion in life. Such a person sometimes does his job, but shoddily. He generally manages to make things worse than they were before he worked on them.

When he does his job, he only goes half the way. In the passage above, he gets his meat, but leaves it unroasted. The meat rots and creates a terrible stench while he sleeps or watches TV or does other useless things.

You see, it isn’t enough to do things; they must be done well and completed.

The slothful person is a great exaggerator. He sees danger in every job.

Proverbs 22:13
The slothful man says, “There is a lion outside there waiting to kill me in the streets.”!

A Believer should never be a sloth.

Hebrews 6:12
That ye be not slothful, but imitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

In your spiritual life, you are enjoined to avoid slothfulness.

Romans 12:11 KJV
Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.

Every believer will eventually “receive what he has done in the body,” (2 Corinthians 5:10). This promises to put the slothful ones in a very bad place.

We are called to be workers together with Christ. (2 Corinthians 6:1). A slothful Believer is not worthy of that appellation. We are workers and achievers whether in our ‘secular’ jobs or our work for God in winning souls, praying and so on.

Get up, there’s work to be done!

Have a great day!
