HIS WAY, YOUR WAY

HIS WAY, YOUR WAY

There will always be the human perspective to situations, but you must always strive to know the heavenly perspective. Human understanding doesn’t see it all; don’t rely on it.

Dear Believer,

God has given us a secret of success, and it seems many Believers keep forgetting this.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight. I want to bring out some important points in these verses, though in no particular order.

1. You have YOUR OWN understanding. Human intellect is a gift, but in the Believer, it must be controlled by the Holy Spirit.

There will always be the human perspective to situations, but you must always strive to know the heavenly perspective. Human understanding doesn’t see it all; don’t rely on it.

The KJV says ‘He shall direct thy paths.’ This isn’t about you choosing your ‘paths’ and then requesting God to rubber-stamp them.  ‘Path’ also means ‘goings,’ ‘way of life’ and ‘direction.’ He shows the paths, you walk in them.

2. Trusting in the Lord is not the problem of most Believers. Doing it with ALL the heart is the problem. One can trust the Lord with half his heart and then become double minded. “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways and shouldn’t think he can receive anything from the Lord.” (James 1:7-8).

3. Again, acknowledging God isn’t the problem, many Believers just don’t want to acknowledge Him in ALL their ways. Some acknowledge Him when they need healing, or when they want to choose who to marry, but when the time comes to decide where to live or the business to invest in, they say things like, “God has given us a brain to think with so that we won’t disturb Him.’ And that, Believer, is the root of many people’s troubles.

God is interested in ALL aspects of our life. When we choose to disregard Him in any aspect, the ensuing trouble in that aspect will spread to all other aspects, which is the reason we are enjoined to seek His guidance and  follow His leading in every aspect.

The human mind is very fertile. It is full of many ideas.

Proverbs 19:21.
There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

This is to say that man thinks up many ideas, but only the idea the Lord gives can be of any value.

I’ve heard motivational speakers tell people to sit still, allow their mind to churn out ideas and then pick one or two to work on. A Believer shouldn’t go that route.

Pray and have fellowship with the Holy Spirit and God’s Word concerning the step you want to take, and you’d know whether you should even take that step at all. He can direct your path.

I have said it again and again that there is no aspect of a Believer’s life that the Holy Spirit isn’t interested in. He is more concerned about your life than you can ever be.

Let the Holy Spirit review your life and the choices you have made, and the ones you want to make. He will guide; He will give divine understanding.

Talk to your Father:
Dear Father, I thank You for granting me this privilege to receive Your guidance in all I want to do and in any direction I want to go in life. Today, I ask that You direct my path by the Holy Spirit, and that I find Your will always. I ask that You help me correct the errors I may have committed in making my past choices and that You let me understand your counsel always, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Have a great week.

Your friend,
Deon.
