HE CALLED YOU ALONE

HE CALLED YOU ALONE

Many Believers still don’t understand that their calling is individual. They want everyone to join them before they move on with God.

Isaiah 51:2 KJV
Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.

Dear Believer,

One of the first things God would want you to understand is your individuality. This isn’t the negative type that is basically selfish, but the positive one by which you know that your relationship with God is unique and not to be determined by another person.

God called Abraham. He had a wife. He had a lot of dependents. So when he took his journey, it was on a caravan with a great number of people. (Read Genesis chapter 12).

But in all this, God is calling our attention to something. “I called Abraham alone!”

The call was extended to Abraham. Abraham called the others. As it turned out, some people had no business being on Abraham’s team. Abraham might have sentimental connections with some of the people, but that wasn’t God’s business.

Consider Lot. He was Abraham’s nephew. After he benefited tremendously from the blessings of multiplication upon the life of Abraham, Lot basically became his competitor in the business of herdsmanship. He had his eyes on the choice land for his own flock.

At some point, Abraham had to let him go. It became clear that God was waiting for Abraham to let Lot go before He sealed his promises with Abraham.

Genesis 13:14-15 KJV
And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

God was silent for many years until Abraham tactically drove Lot away. The name Lot means ‘veil’ or ‘covering.’ Until the veil was ‘torn away,’ Abraham didn’t receive the next marching order.

Many Believers still don’t understand that their calling is individual. They want everyone to join them before they move on with God.

Many young guys are waiting for a boyfriend or girlfriend to get converted before they get serious with God. Some are purposely slowing down on their commitment to God so as to accommodate a friend or someone in their family.

You must learn to trust God with people and let God deal with their hesitation. Some will never believe anyway, even if you lose your life for them.

Paul the Apostle so much desired the salvation of the Israelites that he was ready to be ‘accursed’ for them.

Romans 9:2-3 KJV
…I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh.

It’s been two thousand years since he said that, and Israel still remains in rebellion against their Messiah. If Paul had jeopardized his own walk with God for these people, wouldn’t it have been a waste?

Who is slowing you down in your walk with God? Who are you slowing down for in your race?

You aren’t anyone’s savior. You were called alone, and you have to run this race alone.

Pray for people. Be concerned for them, but not at the expense of your own soul and relationship with God.

Do not accommodate someone’s sin and carnality so that they won’t get ‘turned off’ from Christ. Don’t allow someone to persuade you to sin with them so that they can follow you to church, or listen to you preach. Yes, some Believers have done foolish things like that.

Be strong, Believer. There are times the journey may seem lonesome. Understand that the Presence of the Holy Spirit is real, and He is a Comforter. Jesus is ever present, and you will never have to walk alone.

Have a great day!

Your friend,
Deon.
