GREATNESS IN LITTLE THINGS

GREATNESS IN LITTLE THINGS

The unbelieving crowd has built a culture that despises little things, but you, Believer, must eschew that mentality.

Dear Believer,

The Lord said to me this morning, “Big things are in little things; value little things.”

What exactly does this mean?

Consider the little seed. It looks insignificant. Yet in that little seed are big trees and thousands of fruits. Someone just needs to value that tiny seed and plant it, nurture it and see it grow. Then insignificance is converted to significance and little becomes great.

Many times, ‘little’ is just the package in which ‘great’ is wrapped.

The unbelieving crowd has built a culture that despises little things, but you, Believer, must eschew that mentality.

Many people are waiting to have a lot of money before they are faithful, but God says He will only promote those who value the little money they have now and are faithful with it.

And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. (Luke 19:17).

Many want to be in a great position before they do good but God says the little influence you have now can make a difference in people’s lives, too.

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. (Luke 16:10).

Jesus is saying here that you won’t become a better person by increasing in goods and material things. If you are selfish, stingy, cruel and insensitive when you don’t have much, you’ll still be selfish, stingy, cruel and insensitive when you have much. The difference is, those faults will now be greatly magnified.

Yes, there’s greatness in littleness. Your business, ministry or life may seem insignificant now, but God has built into that little life a great destiny.

People generally do not respect little things. ‘Little’ men, churches, groups or lives are despised. There are men who only want to associate with big things. But what does Jesus say about this?

Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones… (Mathew 18:10).

In the quest to reach great heights and achieve their potential today, many are stepping on the ‘little’ ones and using them as mere ladder to climb up to greater heights. God will never be pleased with those who use the weak to shore up their own strength.

Contrary to what can be seen, greatness is often wrapped in a drab package. People may not see what God has put in you now, but you must see it with the eyes of faith and nurture it.

I want to encourage you today to reach out to that little one, or that little ministry, or that little business, or that little girl and be of help.

I also want to encourage you to value and appreciate yourself now, even if it seems you are little. There is greatness in you, and God put it there. Refuse to be intimidated by those who flaunt their wealth, or live ostentatiously just to make others feel less valued.

You may be at the point in your life when it seems no one really values you, but you must value yourself. Contrary to what can be seen, greatness is often wrapped in a drab package. People may not see what God has put in you now, but you must see it with the eyes of faith and nurture it.

There are currently 2.4 billion professing Christians in the world today. That is a massive number. But how did it all start, humanly speaking?

A humble son of an unknown carpenter in an obscure village in the Middle East went about with a group of rough fishermen, drawing people to God. This carpenter young man was despised and rejected by the establishment. He was ‘little,’ but He had in Him all the power and glory of Divinity.

That young carpenter, Jesus, is the One called Lord by 2.4 people today. It turned out He was God! It was said of Him:

For he grew up before [God] as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no good looks or majesty. When we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. (Isaiah 53:2).

That’s who He was, but now He has been exalted above all. He was the little seed that grew and broke through all restrictions to manifest the greatness in Him.
You, too, are a seed. You will grow. And that little man, or church, or venture, is a seed also; treat them well and do not despise them.

Remember the words of Jesus:

“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones…”

Have a splendid week.

Your friend,
Deon.
