GOD’S DEEP THINGS VERSUS MAN’S SHALLOW THINGS

1Corinthians 2:10 KJV
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Dear Believer,

What the focus passage of today calls ‘the deep things of God’ is actually stated in contrast to what can be called the shallow things of man.

Man loves to pride himself in being ‘deep,’ but that is simply not true. The things of man are carnal, ordinary and weak.

Paul the apostle understood this, and that is why he said the following:

1Co 2:4-5 KJV
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Now see the contrast between ‘enticing words of man’s wisdom’ and ‘demonstration of the Spirit and of power.’ See also the contrast drawn between faith in ‘the wisdom of men’ and faith ‘in the power of God.’

Man’s shallow abilities and wisdom can stir you up mentally and motivate you. Man’s words can motivate you to face the mountain, but that’s all it can do. Only God’s power can move that mountain. That’s the difference between the shallow things of man and the deep things of God.

Believer, you must be careful not to be enticed by those shallow things — those enticing words of man’s wisdom devoid of God’s power and grace. Desist from joining carnal people to belittle and ridicule the Word and power of God.

The deep things of God make you a master over the dark powers of Satan. Depth talks about secrets, mysteries and hidden things. Like gold nuggets, they are never found on the surface. God has kept these for His people. (Deuteronomy 29:29).

You only access these through prayer and fellowship with the Spirit of God. This must be a consistent thing. It must be a lifestyle.

I notice that more and more believers are getting impressed with the fancy words and beautifully crafted speeches of the orators today. In fact, the pulpits are being invaded by these shallow talkers who are mocking biblical principles and just psyching people up. Their books have replaced the Bible for many Believers.

God’s power and wisdom answer to all situations. You can get for a while using human words that motivate you, but when real opposition comes, those sweet words fall to the ground. The greatest motivator cannot motivate the tiniest demon out of a man’s life or a disease out of a man’s body. You have to reach into the depths of God for that.

Don’t be trapped in the shallow places like the whale that is hunting on the beach. There’s depth in God reserved only for Believers in Jesus. Reach out and reach down so that you can rise up and ride in your high places.
