GODLY SONGS IN UNGODLY LANDS?
No land is strange to God. No situation so dire that He can’t influence. No darkness so deep that His light can’t penetrate.
Psalm 137:4 KJV
How shall we sing the LORD’s song in a strange land?
Dear Believer,
The Israelites sang this mournful song when they were in captivity in Babylon. They wondered rhetorically, “how does one sing godly songs in an ungodly land?”
The truth is, the best place to sing God’s songs is in the devil’s land. The effects of light are seen more in dark places than in bright places. God must be praised by His people in the lands where He is despised.
Paul and Silas were thrown into this ‘strange land’ in the prison after being mercilessly beaten for doing the work of God. In that dark dungeon where it seemed God was so far from, Paul and Silas sang the Lord’s songs.
Acts 16:25 KJ2000
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
As they sang and prayed, God responded.
Acts 16:26 KJ2000
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
No land is strange to God. No situation so dire that He can’t influence. No darkness so deep that His light can’t penetrate. No chain so strong that His power can’t break.
When you find yourself in situations that look like a strange land, receive strength from the Holy Spirit, raise your voice and sing with gusto.
It is in the strange land that faith is needed. Exercising ‘faith’ when everything is rosy isn’t living by faith. The true strength of faith is known in adversity
Rise up today and sing. Bless the Lord and frustrate the devil with divine joy.
And He shall come through for you.
Have a great day.
Your friend,
Deon.
