FEAR NOT THE ADVERSARIES

Phillip 1:28 KJV
And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

Dear Believer,

You must understand that it is a natural thing for you have adversaries. A believer who craves to be liked by everyone does not yet know what he has been called into.

John 15:19 KJV
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

We don’t have persecution complex. We don’t derive morbid satisfaction from being hated. We are not masochistic. We are not fatalists looking around for ways to die for our faith.

However, we understand that we live in a world whose system is run by the enemy of our God, and so his own people will necessarily be against us.

We read in the focus scripture passage for today that we must not be terrified by the adversaries. The word ‘terrified’ in the original language means to be suddenly startled like a horse panicking.

The adversaries love to intimidate, and the first step to disarming them is to stare them down in divine confidence. Anyone who believes in the God of all creation shouldn’t be scared by the devil’s servants.

We also see in that passage that the enemy coming against us is a proof or evidence of their coming destruction. They can’t see it, but they are drawing their destruction closer.

Our adversaries are God’s adversaries. Those who hate us because we belong to God ultimately have God to contend with.

Believer, when you live in righteousness and you are hated or attacked for it, you aren’t defenseless. Do not act like the devil and his servants can overcome you.

Don’t be afraid. Don’t be terrified. If God is for you, no one can be against you and succeed. (Romans 8:31).

That is the truth.
