EXPIRED BLESSINGS

EXPIRED BLESSINGS

Well, everyone wants new things, but not everyone is ready to leave the old things.

2Corinthians 3:14 VW
But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Covenant, which is being done away in Christ. even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
(Read 2Corinthians 3:9-18).

Dear Believer,

Do you want great and new things to happen in your life? Do you want new encounters with the Holy Spirit? Do you want to experience God in all areas of life like never before?

Well, everyone wants new things, but not everyone is ready to leave the old things.

The Word of God teaches us that Old things must pass away, and all things must become new if we are indeed in Christ. (2Corinthians 5:17).

Jesus taught that we shouldn’t put new wine into old wineskins, unless we are ready to lose both the wine and it’s old container. (Luke 5:37).

The apostle gives a remarkable illustration of the rut many have fallen into. Moses had great encounters with God in the Old Testament. He was on the mountain with God and covered in glory for forty days. When he came down, the effect of the glory of God was so much on him that his face shone. People couldn’t look at him. He had to get himself a veil to cover his face.

But the apostle teaches us that as glorious as that event was, it pales into insignificance when compared with what God has for us today.

Somehow, the people of Israel still retained the ‘veil mentality’ even in the days of Paul. When they studied the scripture, they restricted themselves to their traditional ways. Just like Moses covered his face to block the radiating glory, they also blocked the power and Word of God from reflecting through them.

What was a blessing one thousand five hundred years earlier had now become a curse to them. Jesus came to fulfil what Moses prophesied, but they were still calling themselves disciples of Moses. They were tenaciously holding on to what had been ‘done away.’

Believer, you must outgrow the blessings of the past to enter the blessings of today.

The chick is comfortable enough in the egg, but it must break out of the egg at some point, lest it die there. A human baby is perfectly happy in the womb, but it must come out at some point unless it be the death of itself and the other.

The stories of great things God did for and through you in the past should be an encouragement, but you have to leave those things and reach out for greater levels of grace with God.

This principle should be applied to all aspects of the Believer’s life: spiritual, business, relationship and so on.

Remove the veil of limitation. Step out of the restrictions imposed on you by expired blessings. Reach out for greater things.

I pray that the Lord help you to remove the veils of limitation and move on into greater blessings in the name of Jesus.

Have a beautiful day!

Your friend,
Deon.
