DON’T LET HIM HAVE THAT LITTLE SPACE!
A little evil presence is just like cancer. It starts small and painless, but eventually consumes the body without mercy.
Dear Believer,
One of the shortest verses of the Bible has furnished us with one of our greatest defensive weapons in life. Here is it.
Ephesians 4:27
And neither give place to the devil.
Many modern versions simply put it this way:
Don’t give the devil an opportunity.
You see, the devil doesn’t ever ask for a big space in your life. Just a little, tiny space is all he wants.
A little corner of your heart for lust is all he wants.
A little place in your body for a little sickness.
A little quarrel in your home for a few days.
A little unbelief added to your faith to render it ineffective.
A little desire for someone else’s wife.
A little evil presence is just like cancer. It starts small and painless, but eventually consumes the body without mercy.
Listen, Believer, no one can control friendship with evil. It eventually holds you in a vice grip from which you can’t easily break free.
Paul tells us to ‘flee fornication.” That sounds defeatist and cowardly, coming from someone who said, “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10). He also said, “I can do all things through Christ.” (Philippians 4:13).
Yet he says to not give the devil even a little space. He tells us to run away from sexual sins. Where then is the strength that the Lord gives? Can’t we handle the situations with it?
That is to tell us that fellowship with evil is not something the Believer can handle; it is something to avoid.
Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Ephesians 6:16.
The fiery darts, arrows or bullets are small projectiles that ordinarily look inconsequential and harmless. But when they are shot from a gun or a bow, they take on a life of their own. The danger is not in the size of a bullet; it is in the speed at which it is shot.
The devil doesn’t usually attack with big evil. Most times, the evil he uses doesn’t seem big or bitter; it rather seems small and pleasurable. Or at least tolerable.
Believer, do not sanction anything the word of God goes against, whether morally, in health, in finances or in your home.
The Galatians Christians were into some little things that appeared tolerable. They were even proud of it. Here’s what Paul told them:
Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast affects the whole batch of dough? 1 Corinthians 5:6.
Yeast is used in the Bible to describe the effects of sin. A little of it is added to a big lump of dough and in time grows to saturate everything. Yeast is a living thing and it grows. Evil grows, and when it is allowed to stay, even in a little place in our heart or life, there’s no telling the devastation it will cause.
Do not just ask for the good; expel the evil.
Pray about this:
Father, I resist every evil that is seeking to have a place in my life. I stand today with the shield of faith to quench all the bullets of sin, sickness and unbelief shot at me by the devil. I refused evil. I overcome by the blood of Jesus. I pray that the Lord enlighten my heart to see any evil I have been tolerating in my life and expel it in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Have a wonderful day!
