DON’T LET EVIL GROW

DON’T LET EVIL GROW

Do not permit any kind of evil to remain in your life, character, home or body. Employ the weapons of the Spirit and the firm wisdom of God to uproot it.

Proverbs 24:30-31 KJV
I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

Dear Believer,

I have noticed that unlike good things, evil doesn’t need much nurturing for it to grow. This simple knowledge has helped me in life. Let me explain.

When I was a child helping on our family farm, the nuisance we had to deal with was weeds. These useless plants grew and flourished on their own. They didn’t need the farmer’s help or sympathy! They just grew. And they grew fast. And they grew strong.

And they were useless!

They took the precious nutrients that the real crops needed. The more weed you had on your farm, the worse your crops were. So we had to keep weeding to keep the crops healthy.

No wise farmer ignored the weed. You could not focus on the crops, nurture them, water them and prune them while leaving the weed to grow wild. In fact, any farmer worth the name would first clear the weeds before planting anything.

This is a great lesson for every Believer. Do not let evil grow. Keep your life clean from weeds. If you ignore them, they will take over.

Evil has tremendous capacity to grow. All the help it needs from you is just to let it be.

Bad habits. Addictions. Besetting sins. They all start as a little, harmless weed. Some evil things, just like some weeds, even look and feel beautiful.

In the book of Genesis, Satan is introduced as a snake. Fast forward to the book of Revelation, and that snake has become a dragon!

Evil grows!

Do not permit any kind of evil to remain in your life, character, home or body. Employ the weapons of the Spirit and the firm wisdom of God to uproot it.

In our focus Bible passage for today, we see a man’s farm overgrown with weeds. Two things are said about this man. He is slothful, and he is void of understanding.

Leaving those bad things in one’s life is a sign of moral and spiritual slothfulness. It is also a sign of a lack of spiritual understanding.

Although evil doesn’t need anyone’s help to grow, it is disheartening that some people, (even so called Believers) are nurturing evil and helping it to grow in their life. They do things that encourage evil habits and character. They encourage ungodly relationships. They excuse bad attitudes.

Remember, friend, that you are a Believer. You have the grace and the power to make your life weed-free. Use it in prayer and in the power of the Word of God.

Ephesians 4:27 KJV
[Never] give place to the devil.

Never tolerate evil.

Have a blessed day!
