DON’T FALL FOR THE TRICKS OF SOUND AND SIZE!

Dear Believer,

Did you ever think that someone was very powerful only to later discover that they weren’t who you thought them to be?

I saw that when I was a kid. There was this boy who terrorized every other kid after school and never let us rest or play. He was so loud and brash and every kid believed he could beat us all at once.

Looking back now I realize that this boy just knew the trick of sound and size, which I want to expose today, because that is the way the devil cheats a lot of believers.

The boy knew how to boast! Maybe he learned this from one of the rude grownups around him. He would rush at you and threaten you on top of his voice, describing how he would beat you and get your mama to come begging him!

He usually attacked when you were sitting or bending down. This made him look bigger than he really was. He made himself seem big!

I had had enough one day and when he rushed at me, I resisted and punched him right in the face. A fight ensued and I hit this boy repeatedly until he fainted. It turned out he wasn’t powerful after all! Although I was severely disciplined by my parents for this, I got myself delivered from a bully on that day. 

Like I said, that boy knew the tricks of size and sound. Satan plays the trick of size by causing you to see Him as a huge, powerful one. He puffs himself up and keeps carrying on so that you only concentrate on him.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:on’t delay doing good. 1 Peter 5:8.

He gets around like a roaring lion even though he isn’t one. He does that so you can think he is a lion. He roars to strike fear into you.

We aren’t told to be scared of the devil; we are told to be sober and vigilant. He is sneaky and wicked and he must be resisted. 

When the devil puffs up and says he is big and can do this and that, I don’t argue with him. I simply place him beside my God. Suddenly all his boasted awesomeness diminish to nothingness. The old bully’s size is then truly revealed!

In the trick of sound, all the devil does is to tell you all the evil he is capable of wreaking on you. The more you listen to the devil and allow him to paint pictures in your mind, the more he gains mastery over your life.

Here’s the way to handle this: employ the principle of divine comparison.

When the devil puffs up and says he is big and can do this and that, I don’t argue with him. I simply place him beside my God. Suddenly all his boasted awesomeness diminish to nothingness. The old bully’s size is then truly revealed!

The bully doesn’t want you to see God; he wants you to concentrate on him and listen to his threats. When you take up the Word of God and make divine comparison, you see clearly that he isn’t the powerful one he claims to be.

You can deal with fear and run the devil out of your home, business, relationship and so on.

Dear Believer, your victory doesn’t come from measuring the size of your problems; it comes from looking unto Jesus who is the beginning and the end if your faith. He is the only One whose presence can make you see the devil for who he really is: a puny, defeated dark Lord who is boasting and harassing those who concentrate their mind on him instead of the Lord.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4).

Say this aloud in prayer:

My God is incomparably big and powerful, I will not be intimidated by the pretending devil. I will not be weakened by the size of the challenges before me because they are nothing compared to the ability of Jesus my Lord. I am the victor. I overcome by faith in Jesus Christ. Amen.
