DON’T BE CARRIED AWAY BY THIS SYSTEM

John 18:36 KJV

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Dear Believer,

As the world seems to get hotter and more godless, many Believers seem to be getting distracted from the core reason we are existing here. Whatever happens, we need to keep reminding ourselves that our Kingdom isn’t of this world.

I’m not espousing an escapist mentality in which the Believer only sits down doing nothing in this world and just keeps waiting for Jesus to come. I am reminding Believers that it is not given to us to make this world a paradise. As far as the world is concerned, it’s a lost cause.

1John 2:17 KJV 

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Too many Believers are distracted by the goings on in this world. The politics, fashion, finances, insecurity and other ways of the world have intoxicated so many Believers that they’ve forgotten that those things will end here. 

Your soul is to be preserved in Christ. You are to proclaim Christ to the world and bring souls to Him. Believers are in this world, but not of it. You may get involved in politics, or be interested in the development of your ethnic stock, but you have to always remember “Our citizenship is in heaven.” (Philipians 3:20).

Forgetting this, many Believers have been drawn into hatred and greed. They have become ethnic jingoists and political zealots, spewing bile against those they oppose. The spirit of the world has displaced the Spirit of Christ in their life.

Let heaven regulate your earthly activities. Live not as though God is powerless in the affairs of men. Do not let fear consume you. The era of the ungodly will soon come to an end. Pray and preach the gospel. Do not let the evil in this world pollute your spirit. Do not cease to walk in love.

It is only through Believers that the earth can know that heaven exists. We can’t do this when we are thinking, acting and walking like the world’s people. We can’t do this when the primary source of our information is the world’s media.  We can’t do this when we’ve neglected prayer for empty debates.

Believers who are involved in politics must understand that they are ambassadors of Christ. Those who aren’t in politics must pray for those who are and stand with them in spirit. We have a responsibility to bring the influence of heaven to bear in this godless system of things.  

Do not ever be carried away by the tides of world events. You are here for heaven; stay connected to home.
