DO YOU RECOGNIZE THOSE ‘FEELINGS?’

DO YOU RECOGNIZE THOSE ‘FEELINGS?’

Jesus made it clear that the Holy Spirit would be our counselor. Many just haven’t learnt to recognize some of His ways.

Romans 8:26 KJV
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Dear Believer,

It sometimes happens that you get so restless in your spirit about something. Paul the Apostle puts it this way concerning a matter: “I had no rest in my spirit.” (2 Corinthians 2:13).

Sometimes it is a feeling of depression that even you, a Believer, cannot explain. Your thoughts may somewhat be concentrated on a particular matter, maybe about your home or child or whatever. You may find yourself carrying a weight of concern.

Many Believers fail to discern this kind of ‘feelings.’ Some try to alleviate them through medication or just ride them out. They try to bear the burden until it fades away.

That can be dangerous.

You see, the human mind and body, especially of the Believer, sometimes respond to spiritual promptings in such ways. You may think you are being depressed, but what is actually happening is the Spirit sensitizing you about an impending evil.

That unnatural restlessness, in many cases, is a premonition. The Spirit is saying to you, “Come apart for a special time of prayer.”

That is the only way some people will escape disaster.

I’ve had people tell me after some terrible event that they had a premonition, or a feeling of restlessness that they couldn’t explain. Now they knew it was God’s Spirit prompting them — after disaster struck.

For some people it is at the point of making a choice about where to live, who to marry or some other things. They ignore such promptings and run headlong into trouble.

Jesus made it clear that the Holy Spirit would be our counselor. Many just haven’t learnt to recognize some of His ways.

Don’t ignore these ‘feelings.’ Don’t say you are busy. Don’t start visiting people, or go shopping, or watch a tv show. Get up and pray. Pray until you have a true witness in your spirit that all evil has been swept away.

There are times you ask for something from God and believe for them just by standing in faith. This is a different matter.

The scripture focus says the Spirit ‘helps our infirmities.’ The help He provides isn’t the kind that doesn’t need our involvement. The Greek word translated ‘helps’ means ‘to take hold of (something) with another person.’ That means the Holy Spirit comes in to prompt us to take hold of a matter in prayer with Him. That is the only way our intercession can work.

I ask you, Believer, to live your life to be sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. The more you do, the better you will understand His call. That is the way to detect and avoid the plans of the devil. That is the way to be led by the Holy Spirit.

Now talk to your Father:
Heavenly Father, I receive Your help today in this important area. Help me to always recognize the promptings of Your spirit and respond appropriately in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Have a pleasant day.

Your friend,
Deon.
