DO NOT WORSHIP IN VAIN
How would you feel if after spending many years to invest in a cause, you found out it was all a scam?
Mark 7:7 KJV
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Dear Believer,
How would you feel if you spent so much energy and money on a project and later found out that it was all for nothing?
How would you feel if after spending many years to invest in a cause, you found out it was all a scam?
The feeling, I’m sure, would be indescribably frustrating and sad.
Now, how would one feel if he spends his whole life worshiping God and then finds out at the end of everything that he has only wasted his time believing in a lie ?
Jesus spoke about this to the Pharisees who were so zealous for religion. They made God the centre of their lives, but Jesus had a shocker for them.
They were worshiping God, but not according to the manner God wants to be worshipped.
“In vain do they worship me”!
Jesus was quoting to them what God said about them. Their worship, as zealous and demanding as it was, was all in vain. This is because they based it all on human tradition and commandment, and not on the Word of God.
Too many people today are so zealous for God without knowing God. Paul the apostle had this to say about the Jews of his day:
Romans 10:2 KJV
For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
The danger in having zeal for God without the knowledge of God is that the worshiper worships in error. He is sincere, but sincerely wrong.
There are all kinds of strange beliefs today that have no foundation in the scripture, which many are teaching and believing as the gospel. For instance, there are so-called Christians who deny the divinity of Jesus. Some deny the bodily resurrection of Jesus. Some deny the power in the blood of Jesus. Some believe that Jesus is just one of the ways to God, and that other forces or religious leaders lead to God just as Jesus does. Yet others believe that the Bible is just an old story with some moral instructions, many of which are outmoded.
These people believe in God, but on their own terms.
You are a Believer in Christ. You must have a relationship with God based on the true Word of God. Jesus is the Way to God, not one of the ways. To get to God, you need to come through Jesus. A holy life is what He demands, and He doesn’t deal in sin. The manual of life He has given us is the Bible, not the word of some man. Your loyalty to may man, be it a religious leader or a denominational head, at the expense of your relationship with Jesus nullifies your faith.
Be a true worshiper. Worship Him in truth, not in a lie convicted by the devil or a man.
TALK TO THE FATHER
Heavenly father, I commit myself to you totally. I ask that you guide me into the divine understanding of You and how to worship you. I shall not worship in vain in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Have a glorious day.
Your friend,
Deon.
