BE CONSCIOUS OF POWER

BE CONSCIOUS OF POWER

There is power in you. The more you acknowledge that power the more you experience it’s presence.

2Timothy 1:7 KJV
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of POWER, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Dear Believer,

One of the least emphasized graces in the life of Believers is power. This is very unfortunate because no matter how much power a person has access to, if he does not learn how to use it or is not aware of it, he will be at a disadvantage just as the guy who has no power at all.

Being in Christ has furnished us with everything we need to defeat the devil and stand over the circumstances of life.

Power is what makes this happen in our life.
Nothing gets done without power. According to the passage above, the Believer has received a Spirit of Power.

Jesus healed the sick with power. When the Holy Spirit came into the lives of the disciples of Jesus, they received power. This was because it would be futile to set out to take the gospel to the world without divine enablement.

Acts 1:8 KJV
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me…

The Holy Spirit is an empowering Spirit. The greatest problem with many Believers is that they haven’t learned to accept that power is available to them through the presence of the Holy Spirit in their life.

One reason for this is that so many walk by sight and not by faith. They think they must ‘feel’ the power or see it. They have not realized that the power of God is activated by faith. You have to believe and acknowledge the truth that you know. “Because I have the Holy Spirit, I have the power of God in me!”

How you feel is not necessarily relevant.
One of the most powerful and skillful soccer player in the world is a man called Lionel Messi. He is of average height and is no different than most men. Nothing shows in his appearance that he is such a great sportsman.
When he sits in his house watching a movie, an ignorant man may look at him and say, “Is this the man they call one of the greatest soccer players? See how he is sitting down lazilly! Surely this one can play nothing.”

The truth is he is as powerful and skillful in that rocking chair as he is on the field of play. The power only gets activated when he gets into action.

That is the way it is with us Believers. When you loaf around and do nothing for and with God by faith, it is easy to think you are powerless. When you allow the devil to back you into a corner and you keep quiet and meekly take his blows, it is easy to feel you are weak.

But there is power in you. The more you acknowledge that power the more you experience it’s presence.

Jesus didn’t look special, physically speaking. But He made powerful statements. After praying, He didn’t sit down in the house twiddling His thumbs. He didn’t lock himself up chanting some canticles like a monk. He got out there to give vent to the power of God. He ministered to people.

One thing I want you to know also is that challenges trigger the power of God. Samson was a very powerful man, but the power of God never became active in him until the enemy was around. Here is an example:

Judged 14:5-6 KJV
Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.

Here’s another one:
Judges 15:14 KJV
And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.

Did you notice that in both instances, the power never became activated until an enemy attacked him? First it was the lion. The other time it was a whole army. He defeated both! And those were only two of many instances.

What would have happened if Samson had turned around and run away the first time he saw the enemy? He could later say he had no power, but that wouldn’t be true.

That’s the issue with many Believers today. They are like the children of Ephraim:

Psalm 78:9 KJV
The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

They turned back, not because they didn’t have the power, but because they were full of unbelief.

It doesnt matter what spiritual gift you have or how much power God has generated in you, if you back down from the enemy, you won’t be different from the most powerless unbeliever.

Dear Believer, you need to start to develop power consciousness. The Holy Spirit isn’t in you to merely keep you going; He is there for your empowerment. If you aren’t living in power consciousness, the devil will take advantage of you.

Confront the roaring lion and see the power of God rise in you. Feeling is secondary, faith is primary. Whether you feel anything or not, God’s power is at work.

It’s time to take your place in power!

Have a great day!

Your friend,
Deon.
