APPLYING THE WORD

He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

Dear Believer,

It is a great pity that we hear believers today utter statements like “You cannot apply the Bible to everything!”

I once heard a young lady say this: “Yes, I believe in the Bible, but it is getting more and more irrelevant today.”

When so-called believers speak like this, it means they don’t understand the role the Word of God should play in a Believer’s life.

The words in the Bible are not merely a collection of stories about people who lived thousands of years ago; they are divine revelation and an instruction manual for life.

You can never experience the power of the Word of God until you commit yourself to applying it to every aspect of your life.

Some people who claim to be believers say you can apply the words of the Bible to issues of worship, but not issues of marriage, or finances, or education. That is ignorant.

The principles in the Word of God are eternally relevant to every condition of man. When you apply them to your life, you see the reward.

Of the Word of God, David the King said, “and in keeping of them there is great reward.” (Psalm. 19:11).

Here’s a secret to living a victorious life: whenever you are faced with anything in life, be it positive or seemingly negative, pause and ask what the Word of God says about it. Prayerfully consider the instructions in the Word of God about that thing. Let this inform your decision and direction.

As old-fashioned as this may sound to modernists, applying God’s Word to your marriage, finances, family life, character and all other aspects of your life is the way to have real peace of mind.

The world is in this sorry state because people have decided that what God says about living is nonsense. Marriages are failing because people are failing to apply the word of God to marriage. That is true of every aspect of human life.

God says to you:

Psalm 32:8

Iwill instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

There is no aspect of your life that God isn’t interested in, and that is why there are instructions in the Word of God showing you the mind of God on every aspect.

When you need to make a decision or take a step, find out what the word says about it. If you aren’t sure, fast and pray as you dig into the Word. You’d be surprised at wisdom of God packaged in the Bible for you.

With the Word, you cannot miss it.

So, go into the Word.
