POWER CAN BE A DANGEROUS THING

POWER CAN BE A DANGEROUS THING

Believer, I believe that God will place you in positions of authority and you will need to exercise power. Know that power without control will lead to disaster every time.

Job 41:22 LOGOS
And power is lodged in his neck, before him destruction runs.

Dear Believer,

As much as we all want to have power, we must understand that power can be a dangerous thing.

Pirelli’s first successful advert slogan is, ‘Power is Nothing Without Control.” But in reality, power is something without control.

Without control, power is disaster!

Consider the power in lightning. When lightning strikes, you see the forked bolts flash across the sky with a release of tremendous electricity and sound energies. That is an example of power without control. The electricity in lightning is not useful to anyone because we can’t control it. Sometimes the lightning strikes people and destroys things. As powerful and commanding as it looks, it’s all a waste.

And that is the way it is when emotions like anger are displayed without control. So much energy is expended that, if controlled, can be used for something good. So many words are spoken to break people’s heart and life.

What is lacking is control.

People who exercise excessive anger are able to do so because they think they have the power and the right to do so. The problem is, many don’t know when to stop.

Knowing how to control emotions like anger is a sign of maturity.

Proverbs 16:32 LOGOS
A man slow to anger is better than a strong man, and he that governs his temper better than he that takes a city.

And when you get angry, control it. Do not be a slave to your anger.

Ephesians 4:26 KJV
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.

Okay, let’s read from a modern version:

Ephsians4:26 WMTH
If angry, beware of sinning. Let not your irritation last until the sun goes down.

The problem isn’t anger, but the lack of control.

Please understand that I’m not exactly speaking about anger here; I’m only using it as an example that everyone can relate to.

In exercising power, many go to the extreme and even destroy others completely. We have a proverb that says a man who is digging a ditch for his enemy should not dig too deep because he may end up falling into it.

Believer, I believe that God will place you in positions of authority and you will need to exercise power. Know that power without control will lead to disaster every time.

Learn control. Your temper, appetite, passion, pride and every ability and privilege you have must be consciously placed under the control of the Holy Spirit. Every single one of them can be the reason for a man’s downfall even though they were given for promotion.

May the Lord help you to walk in power and not fail.

Have a great month.

Your friend,
Deon.
